What is in Find it@RAU discovery tool?

Q 1. Which of the Library’s subscribed e-resources are included in Find it @ RAU?


A 1. Included in Find it @ RAU (and therefore searchable from within that interface) are:

Business Source Elite Full text coverage for over 1,000 business publications and economics journals, including nearly 500 peer-reviewed publications. Business Source Elite contains full text from the world’s top management and marketing journals including Business Week, Forbes, Harvard Business Review, etc. More than 10,100 substantial company profiles from Datamonitor are also included.

CAB Abstracts Covers the significant research and development literature in the applied life sciences, including agriculture, forestry, human nutrition, veterinary medicine and the environment. This database offers full text and extensive indexing for over 100,000 journal articles, reports, and conference papers from 1973 to the present. Coverage is international in scope.

Cambridge Journals Digital Archives Cambridge Journals Digital Archive comprises of more than 260 journals published by Cambridge University Press from 1827 through to approximately 1996. Subjects covered include: Scientific, Technical, Medical and also Humanities and Social Sciences.

Dawsonera eBooks A growing selection of around1000 eBooks, many of which we also hold in hard copy format in the Library.

Emerald Management eJournals Provides access to more than full-text articles from around 80 leading peer-reviewed titles.

Environment Complete Offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy sources, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. It contains citations for articles from 2,400 domestic and international journals going back to 1888, as well as 200 monographs.  It also includes more than 1,120 full-text journals and offers expanded coverage in air quality protection, energy sustainability, fisheries science & technology, and land use planning.

GreenFILE Offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

Heritage Cirqa All records from the library catalogue are also included in a Find it search.

Jstor Provides access to archival and current issues of more than 1,400 scholarly journals (full-text) across more than 50 academic disciplines.

Key Note Market Information Provides access to more than 140 in-depth reports covering industry sectors.

Nature Journals Online This provides access to more than 100 Nature journals to support your learning, teaching and research.

ProQuest eBooks ProQuest eBooks is a package of over 100,000 eBooks covering a very broad range of subjects.

Sage Premier Collection Access to around 800 sage journal titles.

ScienceDirect One of the world’s largest providers of scientific, technical and medical literature. You are able to access the full text of 300 plus journal titles within the 3 subject collections in ScienceDirect to which we subscribe, plus the abstracts of all others  (Agricultural and biological sciences / Environmental sciences / Business, management and accounting).

Taylor & Francis Science & Technology Collection Access to the full-text of around 600 journals.

Web of Science Contains current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,700 of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world.

Wiley Collection Access to 370 full-text Wiley e-journals, covering a range of subjects and disciplines.

Q 2. Are ‘open access’ databases also included and searchable in Find it @ RAU?

A 2. Yes they are!  Amongst those that are included are:

  • Directory of Open Access Journals
  • OAPEN Library
  • Sabinet African Electronic Publications
  • Etc.

Q 3. What good subscribed resources are not included in Find it @ RAU, or are more effectively searched separately?

A 3. Some resources do not ‘fit’ easily into Find it @ RAU and are best searched separately.  These resources include:

    • Market research materials such as Keynote, Marketline Advantage and IGD Retail Analysis.
    • ‘Practitioner’ resources largely used by Property and Estate Management students such as BCIS Online, Estates Gazette interactive, Investment Property Databank (IPD), Lexis Nexis Planning And Property Libraries, Planning Resource Online, Property Law UK, RICS Isurv
  • Miscellaneous resources such as Britannica Online, Digimap, Farm Management ePocketbook (Nix), Image Quest, Statista
