Recently the RAU Library submitted an entry for consideration at the PPRG Marketing Excellence Awards 2015. We presented a case study on the marketing of our new discovery tool Find it @ RAU at the University. We wanted to show that library services can make a little go a long way by using imagination, commitment and creativity.
Competition was fierce, with the high number of entries reflecting the commitment and enthusiasm of library staff to promote and market the importance of libraries. The PPRG Chair explained to us that judging was incredibly hard this year and they were lucky to have so many submissions to consider, so unfortunately we were not winners on this occasion. Nevertheless, we received some very positive feedback for our campaign:
“With regard to the Find it @ RAU discovery tool, you created an effective brand through consultation, which was appropriate to the target market. You used simple, clear messages across your communications channels and obviously worked well with your external designers. The small budget was used effectively, you clearly met your aims and you received great feedback from your customers.”
They also said that they would like our permission to include a short feature about the campaign in the PPRG eBulletin, stating, “So many elements of your project would be of interest and inspiration to other library staff working to market and promote their services.” The names of the winning entries will be announced on the PPRG pages on the CILIP website at http://www.cilip.org.uk/about/special-interest-groups/publicity-and-public-relations-group in the near future.
So although we didn’t win, the RAU Library is very pleased to have received such positive feedback from PPRG. We should celebrate a small success!
