Encyclopedia of Life (EOL)

The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL), was launched in May 2007, as an exciting project, which aimed to set up a website for every species on the planet.  It describes itself as ‘an ecosystem of websites that makes all key information about life on Earth accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world’.  It is a free comprehensive online reference source and database for every one of the 1.8 million species that are named and known on this planet. The website includes text, images, videos.
